Rebecca Balding, an actress best known for her recurring roles in classic television series like Soap and Charmed, has died at the age of 73. Balding’s husband, producer James L. Conway, confirmed the news and said she passed away from ovarian cancer.
Balding played two parts on Charmed, one as Aunt Jackie and another more significant role as the boss of Phoebe Halliwell, who was played by Alyssa Milano. She also worked frequently on television shows for single-episode stories, including on shows like Cagney & Lacy and MacGyver.
Balding was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She attended the University of Kansas and she began acting in the Chicago theater scene.
In one of the few film roles she took throughout her career, a 1981 horror flick The Boogens, Balding met Conway and they got married while still shooting. Conway even shared once that Balding dropped the question on him.
Balding retired from acting in 2005. In her later years, she maintained a storefront on the online retailer Etsy that was called “Becky’s Bauble Boutique.” She is survived by her husband, her daughters Sarah and Kathleen, and her grandchildren.
