Charlie Sheen avoided jail time and was sentenced to 30 days in a rehabilitation center after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge Monday in Aspen, Colorado. The charge stems from a dispute between he and his wife, Brooke Mueller, over Christmas. Two of his other charges, including a felony charge of menacing, were dropped. When asked by Judge James Boyd why he was pleading guilty, Sheen answered, “Because I’m guilty, your honor.”
The actor was also sentenced to three months of probation and 36 hours of domestic violence counseling. He has 30 days to report to rehab. "I’m very grateful to the court and to the people of Pitkin County," Sheen said in a statement after his sentence. "I look forward to complying with the court’s decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me."
The Two and a Half Men star starts moving on by getting right back to work; Sheen is due back on set to film the first episode of the hit sitcom’s new season Tuesday.
