Charlie Sheen, 44, is entering a drug rehabilitation facility less than a week after his third wife, Brooke Mueller, checked herself in for alleged abuse issues. Sheen’s publicist revealed on Tuesday that the star of top-rated CBS comedy Two and a Half Men will register voluntarily as a “preventative measure” and asked that his privacy be upheld.

In a joint statement, CBS, Warner Brothers television and Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre maintained that they support the actor in his decision and announced that production on the sitcom will be “temporarily suspended.”

The announcement comes almost two months after Sheen was taken into custody after a domestic battle with Mueller at their Aspen home. Prosecutors charged the actor with felony and misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and criminal mischief. Sheen could face another stint in jail for violating the terms of his bail if he is caught using drugs or alcohol. –AHMED MORI
