Charlie Puth Says Ellen DeGeneres & Her Team ‘Disappeared’ After They Signed Him

Charlie Puth accused Ellen DeGeneres‘ recordof ghosting him… and his claims aren’t so shocking given Greyson Chance‘s recent similar allegations.

During an October 8 appearance on Rolling Stone Music Now, the hitmaker recalled DeGeneres’ label, Eleveneleven, vanishing from the picture shortly after signing him.

Puth alleged, “Not putting any blame on one person, but from a collective… all the people that were in that room, they just disappeared. I didn’t hear from anybody.”

DeGeneres signed Puth and his song partner, Emily Luther, to her label back in 2011 after they went viral on YouTube with their cover of “Someone Like You” by Adele.

Regardless of his allegations, Puth didn’t seem to have any hard feelings toward the popular talk show host. “People describe Ellen as rude,” he said during the episode. “I’ve never experienced that. Maybe she likes me.”

Chance, who was also briefly signed to Eleveneleven, had similar accusations — and much harsher words for DeGeneres last month. He put it pretty bluntly: “I’ve never met someone more manipulative, more self-centered, and more blatantly opportunistic than her.”

The singer recalled Degeneres promising to him and his mother, “I’m going to protect you. I’m going to be here for you. We’re going to do this together.” Though she was kind to Chance at first, the singer accused her of quickly becoming “domineering and way too controlling.”

Degeneres swiftly dropped Chance from her label when he wasn’t as successful as she had anticipated.

“Whenever I would come on the show [after that], it was such a fake smile,” Chance said. “She wouldn’t even ask, ‘How are you doing? How are you holding up?’ It was just like, ‘Here’s what we’re going to talk about. We’ll see you there.”

Puth’s former song partner, Luther, also opened up about DeGeneres’ alleged mistreatment last month.

“The way it was portrayed was, ‘She’s going to be working with you every step of the way. And it’s going to be amazing,'” Luther remembered. “And for me, growing up in a family with very little money… you put your trust in her. And she really let us down.”

The final episode of The Ellen Show aired on May 26, 2022, following July 2020 allegations of a toxic workplace.
