Only a month after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, who lost his battle to colon cancer at 43, celebrity anecdotes of his kindness continue to surface. Boseman’s 21 Bridges costar, Sienna Miller, revealed in a recent interview that the Black Panther actor had donated a portion of his salary to her after learning about the disparity in their pay.
Boseman, who was a fan of Miller’s work, had campaigned for her to co-star on 21 Bridges. At the time, Miller describes being overworked after appearing in back-to-back projects.
“This was a pretty big-budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to,” Miller told Empire. “And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I’m compensated in the right way’.”
While the studio would not agree to pay her requested salary, Boseman offered to donate a portion of his salary to her, so that she would receive the amount she initially asked for. “It’s just unfathomable to imagine another man in that town behaving that graciously or respectfully,” she said.
