Iconic singer Celine Dion shocked the audience with her surprise Grammy appearance on Sunday. Before announcing the final Grammy winner, host Noah Trevor introduced Dion to the stage after teasing her appearance throughout the show.
“Thank you all, I love you right back,” she said to the audience. “Those who have been blessed enough to be here at the Grammy Awards must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people all around the world.
Dion was met with a standing ovation. The 55-year-old singer was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in December 2022. The neurological disorder causes muscle spasms and an inability to control them. The disorder has also affected Dion’s ability to sing. In 2023, Dion had to cancel her Courage World Tour out of concern for her health. Stiff-person syndrome is rare and only affects one or two people per million.
Over the past few years, Dion has avoided public appearances to care for her health. She was seen in November 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for a hockey game. Dion was accompanied by her three sons.
