After the loss of both her brother and husband to cancer in one week last month, singer Celine Dion returned to her familiar Vegas home on Wednesday to honor her late husband, René Angéli.
Dion thanked everyone who offered condolences on behalf of her late husband during her speech that night. “I feel his love in this room,” she said. “I feel his strength and his warmth being reflected in all of you. René always surrounded me with the best people who believed in us and always worked so hard on our behalf.”
Dion also took to her website to offer more thanks. “My family and I are deeply touched by the outpouring of love and support from so many people who have touched our lives during these past few days.”
An emotional Dion ended her tribute with, “On behalf of my family, thank you again for being here with us this evening for this beautiful tribute to mon amour. René I love you, so much, merci, good night.”
Celine’s late husband was her mentor and coach throughout her career and the couple had two sons together.
Dion’s husband died three weeks ago and shortly after, the singer lost her brother to cancer as well. Watch the full tribute here.
