Whether you spend your Thanksgiving focusing on football, food, or family, your favorite celebs have their time-honored traditions too, and they run the gamut from eating turkeys to saving them.
You can bet your bottom dollar that while the stuffing is being passed, Jennifer Lopez will cheering on the Miami Dolphins, who face off against the Dallas Cowboys at 4:15 on Thursday, after Enrique Iglesias kicks off the match by singing the National Anthem. Let's just hope that Southern belle Carrie Underwood, a Cowboys fan, won't be anywhere nearby. Justin Timberlake, who roots for the Green Bay Packers, will be riveted a little earlier in the day, when his team goes toe-to-toe with the Detroit Lions at 12:30.
Even in celeb households where football isn't the focus, the holiday feast gets top billing. "I'm going to learn to make a pumpkin pie, maybe," Emma Stone told USA Today about the upcoming holiday. Lest anyone think she's getting too ambitious about the project, she assured that she would probably use canned pumpkin for her filling. Courteney Cox, who originally hails from Birmingham, Alabama, centers her meal around a French fried onion and cheddar cheese casserole, a Thanksgiving staple in Alabama, reports IBTimes.com.
Singer Richie Sambora revels in the traditional without forgetting about the aspects of family … and fat content. "I've spent a lot of Thanksgivings on the road with my band, so anytime that I can spend Thanksgiving with my family in a traditional aspect, eating sweet potatoes and cranberries and stuffing and all the trappings of Thanksgiving and then get on a treadmill the next day extra long, I'm happy."
Lots of celebs are vegetarians who can't touch the turkey. Glee's Lea Michele, who falls into the herbivore category, is always dependent upon the side dishes, but really looks forward to her aunt's antipasti and Italian bread. Vegetarians Kristen Wigg, Russell Brand, and Alicia Silverstone will also need to rely heavily on the creamed corn, potato, and spinach dishes, according to The Huffington Post.
And while we're on the topic of eschewing turkey, Ellen DeGeneres is joining the Farm Sanctuary's Adopt-a-Turkey Project, which invites people to save a turkey this Thanksgiving, rather than eat one. Entourage's Adrian Grenier is thinking along similar lines. "I'll be giving green gifts and cooking eco-friendly," he told Seventeen of his own Thanksgiving plans.
