Cinco de Mayo is a holiday in Mexico to commemorate the Mexican Army’s unlikely victory over French forces at Puebla in 1862. Many American celebrate the day by eating Mexican food and drinking margaritas. Here are a few fun tweets from various celebrities.

Khloe Kardashian shared an article on how to make the best margaritas.

Ellen DeGeneres said, “Happy #Cincodemayo! Or as I call it, the best reason to have a margarita before noon.”

Actress Kate Walsh advised, “Party fuerte … but also responsibly, ok?”

Sean “Diddy” Combs took the opportunity to plug his tequila brand, Deleon Tequila.

Real Housewife Bethanny Frankel also took the day as an opportunity to plug herself, as she’s doing a live Q&A.

Comedian George Lopez also had a message for his fans: “Today is a celebration: here’s some #cincodemayo trivia, anyone dressed as a Mexican in traditional Mexican clothing, like a sombrero and anyone who uses their index finger as a mustache is #tradition that those people be surrounded by real Mexicans and in a show of solidarity be taken outside and given a #BolaDeChingasos I hope this is helpful #happycincodemayo Pinche Culeros / My Friends ?? And Eva Longoria added a photo of her huevos rancheros breakfast and said she started off the day right.

Even political celebrities joined in, including former Governor Mike Huckabee who tweeted out a stereotype of the day. “For Cindo de Mayo I will drink an entire jar of hot salsa and watch old SPeedy Gonzalez cartoons and speak Spanish all day.”

Senator Al Franken spread the right message with his tweet: “Today, we recognize cultural, historical significance of #CincodeMayo, an important holiday for millions of Mexican-Americans in our nation.”
