Celebrities Respond To The Rapture

Some Christians are predicting that this Saturday, May 21, is set to be Judgment Day, also known as the Rapture, the End of Times, the Return of Christ, or Doomsday.

According to Harold Camping, a controversial Christian radio broadcaster that has been the driving force behind the controversial news, "When the clock says about 6 p.m., there’s going to be this tremendous earthquake that’s going to make the last earthquake in Japan seem like nothing in comparison. And the whole world will be alerted that Judgment Day has begun. And then it will follow the sun around for 24 hours. As each area of the world gets to that point of 6 p.m. on May 21, then it will happen there, and until it happens, the rest of the world will be standing far off and witnessing the horrible thing that is happening."

But more importantly, what are the celebs saying?

Joy Behar wants to know what your plans are. She tweeted: “Apparently, this Saturday marks the Day of Rapture and the start of Judgment Day. Got any fun plans for the weekend? #May21 #Rapture”

Behar decided to get all the details on the Rapture controversy and interviewed two religious, yet skeptical guests, Father Edward Beck and Pastor Max Lucado on HLN.

Like Behar and her guests, Jon Stewart is skeptical. He addressed the news that Judgment Day is upon us with his signature look of disbelief and biting wit. He said of Camping, “He’s 89! Actuarially speaking, he’s probably not that far off. Seriously, how much past May will that dude last?”

Niecy Nash jokes that her big plans that are depending on whether or not the Rapture happens. She tweeted, “If the world ends tomoro @ 6pm, I can end my wedding stress by eloping! If I'm alive at 6:01pm, the stress continues!”

Wyclef Jean is also unconvinced that the Rapture will disrupt his plans. He tweeted, “The Rapture will not be on may 21 2011 my sermon will be on may 22 2011”

Jim Gaffigan says we’ve got it all wrong. He joked on Twitter, "I didn't say Judgment Day. I said Judge MINT Day. Which is better Mentos or Tic Tacs? Hope there wasn't any confusion. -God"

He also asked his followers, "Anyone know if the shuttles to Hell will have Wifi? Asking for a friend."

Anyone throwing a Rapture Party will need some theme music. Luckily, Blondie has released the zombie-themed music video for the new song “Mother,” just in time.

Beyonce also just released the much awaited video for the single “Run the World (Girls),” which conveniently has an “end-of-times” theme.
