Celebrities React To Occupy Wall Street Day Of Action

While protesters are on the move, reorganizing and demonstrating civil disobedience in an attempt to shut down Wall Street and the New York Stock Exchange on today's "Day of Action," celebrities are showing their support, both on Twitter and in person.

Russell Simmons, who has publicly supported the movement since early in its inception, is on the scene today and plans to stay there, marching on Wall Street and occupying Zuccotti Park, to "bring energy to the movement" while it's on the move, according to ABC News. "There is no possibility to 'end corporate greed' that's their job, our job is to provide boundaries. Our Government should be off limits," Simmons posted on Twitter.

Other celebs who have previously commented on Occupy Wall Street are also tweeting about what could turn out to be the final days of the movement. Mark Ruffalo conveyed his disapproval, tweeting, "People in Liberty Park were pepper sprayed. Police beat women. Press pushed out so they could not witness the crackdown." Alec Baldwin, who famously visited the movement last month, said, "Bloomberg's NY is no place for the 1st amendment. Bloomberg serves Wall Street, now and forever. And Wall Street cannot handle free speech."

Some supporters are making it known that this is not the end of Occupy Wall Street. "Phase Two of this massive, nonviolent MAJORITY movement will now commence. Wall St will wish they had just left it alone in the park. #ows," tweeted filmmaker Michael Moore, referring to authorities' effort to clear Zuccotti Park on Tuesday, when they made up to 70 arrests.
