Celebrities Flock To Democratic National Convention

Clint Eastwood, 82, may have made headlines with his onstage semi-hallucination at the Republican National Convention when he spoke to an empty chair on behalf of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, but President Barack Obama is the one with the celebrity entourage, as the Democratic National Convention, which kicked off on Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, is sure to demonstrate.

Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren are planning to attend the convention, and performers for the political festivities are expected to include the Foo Fighters for what is reportedly one of their final performances "for a long time," according to frontman Dave Grohl; Mary J. Blige; Earth, Wind and Fire and Marc Anthony, reports The New York Daily News.

Rosario Dawson will be there to represent her organization, Voto Latino, with Russell Simmons and Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera. Eva Longoria has a speaker slot at the convention, and Ashley Judd will attend as a delegate to the DNC for the state of Tennessee. "I take the service very seriously," she said, reports the Daily Record. "I'll be there to work."

Monday night's DNC kickoff featured musical performances by James Taylor, Janelle Monae and actor Jeff Bridges, who played with his band, the Abiders. Former President Bill Clinton will also join the convention on Wednesday night.

The Democratic National Convention will extend through Thursday, September 6, 2012.
