You have every reason to have a fun weekend — today is National Drink Wine Day!
According to NationalDrinkWineDay.org, the idea is to promote the love and health benefits of the drink.
Red wine in particular has been long thought to have heart benefits. The Mayo Clinic says red wine contains antioxidants that may prevent heart disease, when enjoyed in moderation of course. This is because researchers believe antioxidants increase levels of so-called “good” cholesterol that protects against artery damage.
So how can you observe National Drink Wine Day? The simplest way would be to just drink some wine. Or you could go to a wine tasting or tour a local winery as well.
Some businesses are helping their customers celebrate the occasion. For example, Whole Foods is offering 20% off all Criterion wines on Saturday, February 18. (Criterion is a label created by master sommelier Devon Brogile and Whole Foods wine expert Doug Bell.)
