The Voice coach and R&B artist CeeLo Green has been dropped from a number of gigs following his questionable series of tweets on the subject of rape.
Green has been cut from his Freedom Live gig, as well as the Gretna Heritage Festival due to the nature of his Twitter rant about what does and does not constitute rape, reported TMZ. Last week, Green pleaded no contest to giving ecstasy to a woman he was alleged to have raped.
While Green’s plea deal allows him to maintain his innocence, his tweets on rape landed him in hot water, as he suggested that in order for rape to take place, the woman has to remember being raped. Green has since apologized for his irresponsible social media activity, but his contrition has failed to put a stop to the bad press and gig cancelations.
Replacing Green at Louisiana’s Gretna Heritage Festival, which endeavored to foster a “wholesome family environment,” will be Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
