Catherine Zeta-Jones owned the red carpet at the premiere of her new movie Dad’s Army in London Tuesday.
Zeta-Jones arrived at the premiere in a dramatic teal gown by Elie Saab. The Welsh actress stunned in the floor-length wrap dress, which featured both a plunging neckline and a high slit. She finished off her glamorous look with a pair of silver strappy heels and a matching statement bracelet.
While walking the red carpet, Zeta-Jones, who came to the premiere without husband Michael Douglas, posed with the Chelsea Pensioners.
Zeta-Jones, when she wasn’t posing for pictures, was fielding questions from the assembled press at the premiere. As could be expected, the actress was asked for her opinion on the Oscars’ diversity issue.
“Well I think that there’s room for all diversity – you know women’s of a certain age, obviously, ethnic origins,” Zeta-Jones told Sky News, adding. “In defense of the Academy, they can only vote on what they see. So, let’s go back to the screenwriters, the movie-makers, to the studios who finance these movies, and be more diverse all around.”
In war comedy Dad’s Army – based on the erstwhile BBC series of the same name – Zeta-Jones plays journalist Rose Winters, who visits The Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard platoon, which is infiltrated by a German spy.
Dad’s Army hits theaters Feb. 5.
