During the Ugly Betty reunion panel at the ATX Television Festival on Saturdaythe entire cast of the show, including creator Silvio Horta, came together to reminisce and speak about future possibilities.

When moderator Jessica Shaw asked about the open-ended nature of the series finale, she sparked lead America Ferrera to joke: “Hulu is going to pick us up for a two-hour special, so we’re going to find out.”

As the audience began to applaud, Ferrera admitted, looking hopefully towards the crowd as the room burst with excitement, “That’s not true – but if you tweet it…”

Ferrera instructed everyone to take out their phones to tweet in hopes of getting the idea of a show revival to trend. After fumbling threw creative options, she settled on #HuluBringUglyBettyBack.

After Ferrera suggests that the tweets could lead to Hulu actually buying a two-hour special, co-star Eric Mabius added, “You guys can really make that happen.”

Shaw then noted that after last year’s reunion panel for Gilmour Girls at the same festival, the show was picked up for a reboot on Netflix.

After the cast spoke about where they thought their characters would be at this point, Shaw asked Horta if he had been considering story lines for the show over the years. “I will say that being here with everybody, listening to these ideas, it’s kind of refreshing,” he said. “Here’s the only thing I know for sure: If we were to do something, it would be a dream, but everybody on this stage would have to be involved, and Becki Newton.” Newton was absent due to pneumonia.

Everyone on stage nodded in agreement, and Ana Ortiz was heard exclaiming “We’re in!”

Ferrera closed the topic by sharing the cast’s eagerness to be together. “I mean, it took 20 minutes for everyone to say yes to my email to be at ATX,” she said. “I think they’re going to be at the reunion movie.”
