Cast For The ‘Resident Evil’ Series Revealed With Lance Reddick To Portray Main Villain

The official cast for the upcoming horror television series Resident Evil has been officially announced. The series will air on the Netflix streaming service and will consist of eight episodes. Each of the episodes will be an hour-long in length. The live-action Resident Evil series is based on the popular video game franchise of the same name by Capcom.

The Resident Evil franchise has proven to be extremely successful, with six live-action films having been released including Resident Evil in 2002, Resident Evil: Apocalypse in 2004, Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007, Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010, Resident Evil: Retribution in 2012 and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in 2017. All six films were written by Paul W.S. Anderson, who also directed a majority of the films. A reboot of the films titled Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is set to premiere on November 24.

The upcoming Resident Evil television series was created by Andrew Dabb, who will serve as showrunner as well as an executive producer and writer while Bronwen Hughes has been confirmed to be the director of the first two episodes as well as an executive producer. Other executive producers for the upcoming series will include Mary Leah Sutton, Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben. Constantin Film, which produced the first six Resident Evil movies will produce the upcoming series.

The main cast will include Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph and Paola Nuñez. Reddick will portray the ruthless and power-hungry scientist Albert Wesker, the main antagonist of the entire Resident Evil franchise and likely the main villain of the upcoming show. Aside from Reddick, none of the other cast members have had their characters revealed. The plot for the series has been very vague with the synopsis simply stating, “Nearly three decades after the discovery of the T-virus, an outbreak reveals the Umbrella Corporation’s dark secrets.”

The live-action Resident Evil series will be released sometime in 2021 or 2022.
