Actor Casey Affleck appeared on Stephen Colbert‘s Late Show Monday night and things got a little tense and awkward very quickly.
A few seconds after sitting down, Colbert commented on the actor’s appearance and thanked him for “dressing up.”
“Well, you look great,” Colbert continued.
After exchanging words over whose water mug was between the two, the host tried to get the interview moving. Affleck was not responding well to Colbert’s jabs and the host chalked it up to “just some playful ribbing.” At one point, Colbert even called Affleck a “street corner Jesus.”
Colbert eventually joked that the tension would lead to a fistfight with Affleck asking, “do you want to fight?”
The interview ended better than it started with Affleck talking about training with the Atlanta Police Department and playing Nerf guns with his kids.
