Carrie Underwood delivered a powerful performance of her single "See You Again" at the CMT Awards last night as a tribute to the victims of the devastating tornados that rampaged the Oklahoma City suburbs.
During her heartfelt performance of the song, a montage played of images of the wreckage left after the twisters tore through Moore County – and of the resilient survivors staking American flags in the ground and picking up the pieces. A gospel choir dressed in floor-length white robes joined Underwood on stage. As the song dedicated to her home state came to a close, the country-pop superstar appeared to be holding back tears.

“We really wanted to do something really special with the song,” Underwood told ET Online. “The song itself, I think, is really beautiful. I’ve heard the most incredible stories about how it’s affected different people and what it means to them.
“Right now I feel like it’s very timely. There seem to be a lot of things happening where I’m from especially. I’m from Oklahoma. I really wanted to do kind of a tribute to them.”
Prior to her moving performance, Underwood was awarded the fan-voted top honor of video of the year for “Blown Away.”
