The fans love Carrie Underwood. The 27-year-old singer came out on top at Monday night's inaugural American Country Awards in Las Vegas.

The winners of the brand new awards show have the public to thank, as the results were based entirely on fan voting. This worked out well for Underwood, who won in all six categories for which she was nominated, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Female Single of the Year (for "Cowboy Casanova"), beating out both Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. Looking every bit the star in a stunning, floor-sweeping red dress, she acknowledged the importance of the public's support. "My whole career has been fan voted, pretty much," she told People.

Lady Antebellum was also a big winner of the evening, scooping up awards for Group Artist of the Year, Group Single of the Year, and Group Video of the Year for "Need You Now." Joking about the inaugural aspect of the event, the group's Hillary Scott said, "Don't be surprised if we don't show up next year, because we want to go out on top." —KIMBERLY STEELE
