Caroline Berg Eriksen made a splash online after sharing a photo of herself posing in lingerie, showing off her flat abs and toned body, only 4 days after giving birth.

Eriksen, a Norwegian fitness blogger, who also writes about fashion and other lifestyle topics, posted the photo with the caption, “I feel so empty… 4 days after birth.”

Eriksen, 26, later explained that she posted the picture because she missed her baby bump, which was barely there to begin with. During her pregnancy, Eriksen only gained a reported 22 pounds.

“During the pregnancy, people kept telling me that my body will never be the same and I wanted to show everybody that’s not entirely true,” Eriksen told ABC News.

Fat Shaming?

Bloggers and online commentators have bashed Eriksen for ‘fat shaming’ fellow mothers and setting an unhealthy precedent for young women, with one even calling the photo an “act of war.”

“Focusing on HOW we look post-baby detracts from how we feel. And THAT is what we need to be concerned about with all new mothers. Motherhood is overwhelming on so many levels. We need to shirt the goddamn focus back to the mental health of our mothers,” Mamamia blogger Bec Sparrow writes.

Erikson has been receiving a lot of negative press, with media comparing her to “Fit Mom” Maria Kang, who posted a photo of herself in a similar outfit and killer abs to match along with her three young children. Written in big letters at the top of the photo was, “What’s Your Excuse?”

While Kang meant the photo as a motivational tool for new mothers, encouraging them to work out and exercise, Erikson says she did not post her photo to comment on other women one way or another.

“I think all women should be proud of themselves, regardless of how they look after labor,” Erikson said.

Erikson gave birth to a baby girl, Nelia on Nov. 25.
