Carmelo Flores Laura Could Be The Oldest Person In Recorded History At 123

Carmelo Flores Laura could be the oldest person ever in recorded history at 123-years-old. Flores, a Bolivian man living near Lake Titicaca, said that he should be “about 100 years old or more."

According to Bolivian public records, Flores was born in July of 1890, making him 123 years-old. Bolivia did not require birth certificates until 1940 and used baptism certificates instead.

Flores spoke to reporters about his secret to living such a long life. “I walk a lot, that’s all. I go out with the animals. I don’t eat noodles or rice, only barley,” he said.

Flores grew up herding cattle and sheep, and says he has only ventured 50 miles away from home. He has 40 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, one of who, Edwin Flores, lives next door to him.

If Flores really was born in 1890, he would set a new world record. The current Guinness Book of World Records oldest living person record holder is Jeanne Calment, who died in 1997 at 122 years-old.
