Cara Delevingne just quitted the modeling industry — and put an end to her contract with Storm Model Management. Delevingne told The Times in an interview that it made her “hate” her body. “I’m not doing fashion work any more,” she declared to the British newspaper. “It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being,” she said. “I felt so old.” She also took shots at the modeling industry, saying she thinks it is “horrible and disgusting.” Delevingne began her model career at 10, but things really got big when she first signed with Storm Model Management in 2009 at age 17.
Delevingne has been involved in other projects recently like the movie Paper Towns, which hit the theaters last month. “It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse,” she said.
She hinted that she felt sexually exploited, due to her young age. “I am a bit of a feminist and it makes me feel sick,” she commented. “You start when you are really young and you get subjected to no great stuff.”
Thanks to her numerous contracts, Delevingne was making more than $10,000 per day — and was on her way to becoming one of the best-paid models in the world.
Delevingne will next be featured in the films Pan, Kids in Love, Tulip Fever and London Fields, which are all scheduled to hit the theaters later this year. In 2016, she’ll play Enchantress, a sorceress in the much-anticipated superhero movie Suicide Squad, scheduled to be released on Aug. 5.
