Brie Larson at the 2016 Oscars
Captain Marvel, an upcoming entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe lineage, has found its directors: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
Brie Larson was cast as the eponymous Captain Marvel, whose civilian identity is Carol Danvers. Her DNA will merge with an alien’s during her big screen debut, resulting in her obtaining superpowers. Kevin Feige is producing Captain Marvel, with Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve writing the script.
Variety reports how Marvel Studios had a thorough process for finding a director. However, meeting with Boden and Fleck “numerous times” inspired confidence in “their vision for the heroine.” Furthermore, their experience with film and television was well-regarded by Marvel’s executives.
Captain Marvel, Marvel’s first film with a female lead, is scheduled to release on March 8, 2019. Additionally, the heroine was prominently featured in the first trailer for the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite fighting game, affirming how Marvel is dedicated to cementing Danvers as one of their flagship characters.
Moreover, comic book fans can enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5. James Gunn, the director and writer behind both Guardians films, has signed on to return for the space travelers’ third movie.
