Singer Camila Cabello delivered a high-energy performance at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, marking her debut at the iconic British music event.
The 27-year-old pop star took the stage in a striking ensemble featuring a metallic silver top paired with black shorts. In a provocative moment, one of Cabello’s dancers, costumed as an animal, used an ice pop to accentuate the choreography.
Cabello’s set design was equally eye-catching, incorporating a metallic swing set and a BMX stunt ramp. The Cuban-born artist’s appearance at Worthy Farm had been long-anticipated, as her originally scheduled 2020 performance was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The setlist included fan favorites like “June Gloom” and “Sangria Wine” before transitioning to more upbeat tracks such as “Havana” and “Bam Bam.” Cabello also thrilled the audience with the live debut of her latest single, “Hot Uptown,” which features Drake.
Social media reactions to Cabello’s performance were mixed. Some viewers expressed confusion about the show’s eclectic nature, while others praised the singer’s versatility and stage presence.
One X user wrote: “I wish someone could show me what my face looked like during Camila Cabello’s opening song at Glastonbury because I was genuinely baffled.”
In contrast, another user praised Cabello’s talents: “The talent Camila has as a performer, songwriter and musician needs to be studied; she’s a whole package.”
The inclusion of BMX stunts in the performance sparked curiosity, with one user asking, “Why is Camila Cabello riding around on a BMX at # Glastonbury?”
In a post-show interview with the BBC, Cabello shared her positive experience at Glastonbury, noting that the festival’s reputation for muddy, rainy conditions had yet to materialize. “I’d heard it was amazing, but it’s muddy and rainy. I feel like we lucked out today,” she said, calling the weather concerns “a myth.”
Cabello’s Glastonbury appearance comes as she continues to build on her successful solo career following her departure from Fifth Harmony in 2016.
