Woman dies after driving Tesla into pool (Image: YouTube)
On January 23, 74-year-old Dolores Elizabeth Heeb died after her crashing her 2019 Tesla into a San Rafael backyard pool. Heeb’s manner of death is still under investigation.
According to the California Highway Patrol, they received calls around 7:30 a.m. about a car veering off the road and crashing into the pool, the cause of which is unknown.
Barbara Kuffner, owner of the backyard pool, said that a guest tried to rescue the victim. Kuffner told reporters, “[He] was there trying to open the car and get the person out, but he couldn’t… I called 911, and they came within five minutes.”

Heeb was pulled from the vehicle by first responders and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, Heeb was not wearing a seatbelt, but they have not yet concluded if drugs, alcohol or speed were contributing factors in the crash.
