California Named The Rudest State, Montana Wins Most Polite
Not only do states vary in different accents and slang, but also in politeness. A study performed by WordFinder collected Google Trends search data from each state to view which parts of America most often used polite words and phrases in their web searches. The most-searched compliments and terms of endearment were also taken into account.

Based on Google searches, Montana is the most polite state in the U.S. More than 270,000 of their searches per 100,000 residents included polite terms, especially “please.”
Meanwhile, the study revealed that California lacks manners compared to the rest of the states. Only 10 searches including polite terms per 100,000 residents, mostly “thanks so much.”
It’s clear that Montana has a lot to teach California.
