Actress Candis Cayne opened up about the factors that led to her decision to step back from her close friendship with reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, years after their bond was showcased on the TV series I Am Cait.

Cayne expressed that she and Jenner no longer maintain regular communication and went on to reveal the breaking point in their friendship. “I can’t separate my friendship with her and her belief system anymore,” she told The Messenger.

Cayne, a trans activist, described Jenner as “a cult member, a Fox News cult member.” According to Cayne, she and a few other women attempted to enlighten Jenner about the importance of their cause and how progressive views were essential to support others, but to no avail.

Jenner is known for her Republican leanings and controversial opinions – a stark contrast to Cayne’s progressive views.

Jenner’s political stance also included recent support for Donald Trump‘s 2024 presidential campaign, which is a notable shift from her previous criticism of him in 2018 when she penned an opinion piece for The Washington Post that condemned his actions.

When Jenner ran for governor of California in 2021, she stated in an interview with TMZ, “I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls’ sports in school. It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.” Jenner also refused to acknowledge Trump’s loss in the election in 2021 and instead praised him as a “disrupter.”

Jenner recently came under criticism when she used a slur for mentally handicapped people.

Cayne admitted she was sad over the loss of their friendship and acknowledged the many enjoyable experiences they shared. “I just don’t want to spend time with anybody that can’t understand the other side,” she said.

Cayne hosts her own show called Candis Cayne’s Secret Garden, while Jenner has joined Fox News as an on-air contributor since 2022.
