Olympic-gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner is considering a possible run for governor of California.
On Tuesday, Axios reported that Republican fundraiser Caroline Wren has been working closely with Jenner in her decision as to where to run against Gov. Gavin Newsom (D). Former Trump campaign manager Brad Pascale has also advised the reality star.
Newsom is facing a likely recall election, which was launched by Republicans who disagree with Newson’s COVID-19 laws, forcing businesses to shut down. They also oppose his tax and immigration policies in the very Blue state.
Republicans filed the 1.5 million signatures needed to trigger a recall election. California voters need to first decide with they want Newsom removed, then who they would like to serve in his place.
Three Republican candidates already running against Newsom, include his former opponent John Cox, who lost the 2018 election to Newsom by 23 points, conservative activist Mike Cernovich and former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer.
A similar recall election occurred in the state in 2003 when former Democratic Gov. Gray Davis was unseated by actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the state’s most recent Republican governor.
Jenner disagreed with former President Donald Trump’s beliefs on transgender rights, but she agrees with many other conservative views and would run as a Republican.
