Cailtyn Jenner took to Twitter yesterday to call out Donald Trump for his decision to roll back on transgender rights.
On Wednesday Trump rescinded executive orders made by the Barack Obama administration regarding nondiscrimination laws as they pertain to transgender students. Under Obama, these measures protected transgender students and allowed them to use the bathroom that corresponded with their gender identity.
Trump and his administration took away that right. Their directive claimed that the original law was created “without due regard for the primary role of the states and local school districts in establishing educational policy.”
Jenner spoke out in favor of the transgender community with a video posted to the social media site. “You’re winning,” she said to transgender youth. “I know it doesn’t feel like it today or every day, but you’re winning. Very soon we will win full freedom nationwide, and it’s going to be with bipartisan support.”
Jenner, a Republican, then turned her attention to her fellow party members: “Now I have a message for the bullies: You’re sick. And because you’re weak, you pick on kids, you pick on women or anyone else you think is vulnerable. Apparently even becoming the attorney general isn’t enough to cure some people of their insecurities.”
And finally, she addressed the president himself. “I have a message for President Trump from well, one Republican to another,” she said. “This is a disaster. And you can still fix it. You made a promise to protect the LGBTQ community.”
