Burt Reynolds, suffering from severe financial strain, is holding a massive auction to raise some money for himself. Over 600 items spanning his entire life and career will be up for grabs when the auction goes live on Dec. 11 and 12. Reynolds has been having money trouble for some years now; in 2009 he underwent back surgery and had a quintuple bypass in 2010. In 2011, it was rumored that his Florida home was in foreclosure. Although Reynolds has been teaching several acting classes as well as writing a memoir for Putnam (which won’t be published until the fall of 2015), he does not have the money to make it until then.
The sale boasts a massive list. Not only are there bits of movie memorabilia, but also personal items including high school trophies, personalized autographed gloves from Muhammad Ali, jewelry and clothes. On the movie side, he’s offering a jacket and shirt he wore in Smokey and the Bandit II, a football helmet from The Longest Yard and even a pair of monogrammed boots from Striptease. Also available are several vehicles, a large selection of artwork, sports collectibles, and even a number of awards, including his 1991 Emmy for Evening Shade and his 1998 Golden Globe for Boogie Nights.
