School bus monitor Karen Klein, 68, who was seen being taunted by students in a video that has gone viral, has received public apologies from at least three of those students.
"I am so sorry for the way I treated you," one of the students, named Josh, said in a statement obtained by Anderson Cooper 360. "When I saw the video I was disgusted and could not believe I did that. I am sorry for being so mean and I will never treat anyone this way again."
The mother of another student named Wesley also brought forward her apology. “I cannot even tell you how badly I feel," she wrote. "I am deeply sorry for what my son did. I wish there was some way to make it up to you. I would like it if he could do some work for you or help you in some way. I'm sure that you don't want him anywhere near you or your property and I don't blame you. I am embarrassed, angry and sad about the awful way he treated you. I am truly sorry.”
Klein, whose son committed suicide ten years ago, has received an outpouring of support. A fundraiser was started with the goal of collecting $5,000, to give her a "dream vacation." As of Thursday evening, donations had surpassed $440,000, according to People.
