Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one of the most iconic television series from the 90s, is the next show coming back as a reboot.
Fox 21 TV Studios confirmed that Joss Whedon’s supernatural drama will be coming back to the small screen. Whedon is signed on to executive produce, along with the originals’ executive producers Gail Berman, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui. Monica Owusu- Breen, the creator of Midnight, Texas, has been signed on as the writer, executive producer and showrunner of the reboot.
The show will be pitched to streaming sites and cable networks this summer. The producers have the intentions of making the new show with a more diverse cast, including a African-American lead. “Like our world, it will be richly diverse, and like the original, some aspects of the series could be seen as metaphors for issues facing us all today,” the producers said in a statement.
While the original was adored by many, it’s unclear if the reboot will have the same kind of reception as it already has some critics on Twitter.
Since there is no script yet, it’s not too late for the reboot to change its course. Fans will have to wait until after summer to see what the new show will entail.

Reboot is the new word for "GARBAGE" Really, You are rebooting everything. Hollywood has NOT had one once of originality in years. You keep sinking lower and lower into the pit mediocrity. I'll just watch the original show, Thank you. Why would I bother with something so "Done that, Be there." It takes someone to actually sit down and write a script that has a plot, a theme, dialogue and that has characters that the audience can empathize with. That Hollywood cannot do anymore since everything that is done today is based on comic books, television shows, video games and toys. Does not sound too inspiring. Hollywood is definitely taking the lazy way out. It will flopped like everything you touch it comes crashing down into a heap of CRAP!!
