Buffalo Bill’s House From ‘Silence Of The Lambs’ Struggles To Find Buyer

Buffalo Bill’s house in Silence of the Lambs was a family home in Pennsylvania that a couple is now struggling to sell despite people’s curiosity about the property.

Buffalo Bill’s House Won’t Sell

Scott and Barbara Lloyd put the house on the market several months ago for $300,000. They have recently been forced to drop the asking price down to $250,000 because of a lack of interest in buying the property.

Due to the infamy of Silence of the Lambs and Buffalo Bill, the house in Layton, Pa., was the second-most clicked home on Realtor.com last year. That statistic, unfortunately for the Lloyds, doesn’t translate into offers.

“The fact that a home gets a ton of publicity doesn’t necessarily add up to a quick sale,” Erik Gunther of Realtor.com told The Pittsburgh Tribune Review. “Just because I want to gawk at something doesn’t mean I want to buy it.”

In Silence of the Lambs, both the foyer and dining room were used as sets for Buffalo Bill’s home. However, the scenes depicting a dungeon pit in a basement where the killer kept his victims were shot on a soundstage and not in the Lloyd residence.

The Lloyds don’t entirely blame Silence of the Lambs for their difficulty in selling the house. It also has the drawbacks of being a four bedroom home with just one bathroom, and being located in a small village about an hour outside of Pittsburgh. Luckily for the retired pair, the reduced asking price looks to be doing the trick in attracting more potential buyers.

“We’re finally starting to see a little bit of motion,” Lloyd said.
