BTS Announces Upcoming Hiatus After 2021 Tour

Korean boy-band BTS are getting a much-needed Winter Break after their 2021 American tour concludes, according to a tweet from management company Big Hit Music.

The statement began by saying BTS was planning a “second official extended period of rest since their first in 2019 after they officially complete their official scheduled events of ‘PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA’ and the ‘2021 Jingle Ball Tour.'”

The group has still been plenty active despite delays from the Covid-19 pandemic, doing tours in 2020 and 2021 to “dazzling results.” The band has been working so much that this winter will be the first time they spend the holidays with their families “since their debut,” according to the statement. BTS got its start way back in 2013, so this holiday break is more than deserved.

The purpose of the hiatus is for BTS to “get re-inspired and recharge with creative energy.” Big Hit Music also implored fans of the group to show consideration for the band’s members trying to live “ordinary and free,” lives while they are back home. This is possibly in reference to the group’s past issues with stalker fans invading the members’ privacy and following them on tour.

Fans shouldn’t worry much about this hiatus, however, as Big Hit has assured that BTS will be returning in March 2022 for an in-person concert in Seoul to reconnect with their community. The band also confirmed that they are working on the release of a new album that will be the beginning of a “new chapter,” for the group.

BTS consists of seven members: Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Their 2021 English-language single “Butter” broke the record of their previous single “Dynamite” in terms of most views in the first 24 hours of release.
