In the newly released trailer for 13 Reasons Why, a funeral for Bryce Walker is depicted.

The trailer hints that Bryce Walker, played by Justin Prentice, is going to be murdered and the season will revolve around the mystery of who killed him.

Prentice’s character is a serial rapist in the show.

The season’s logline reads, “Eight months after preventing Tyler from committing an unthinkable act at Spring Fling, Clay, Tony, Jessica, Alex, Justin, and Zach find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler move toward recovery. But when the aftermath of a tumultuous Homecoming game culminates in the disappearance of a football player, and Clay finds himself under police scrutiny, it’s up to a shrewd outsider to steer the group through an investigation that threatens to lay bare everyone’s deepest secrets. The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever.”

Bryce was the person who raped Hannah Baker, played by Katherine Langford. Throughout the first and second season, Bryce continued to say that the assault was consensual, even after her death.

Prentice’s character is the definition of toxic masculinity. In Season 2, he faced no justice for his crimes. He was only put on probation.

His character lived for two seasons, but having his character killed in the upcoming season may have been the best resolution for the show. The death of Bryce shows that he paid for his crimes and while murder is certainly not a real-world answer to a real-world problem, Bryce needed to be stopped one way or another.

Many fans went to Twitter to express their happiness over the death of the serial rapist. Some who watched the show believed that Season 2 did not amount to anything, as it became joyless after letting the villain walk free.

“Me turning up to watch Bryce get killed #13ReasonsWhy,” said one user.

“whoever killed Bryce Walker deserves a medal,” another user tweeted.

The show has earned a lot of controversy for its depiction of suicide, rape and gun violence. This led to show creator Brian Yorkey to cut the scene where Hannah commits suicide in Season 1.

Season 3 of 13 Reasons Why premieres on Netflix on August 23. The show has also been renewed for Season 4, which will be the last season.
