Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley will return to the Today show to guest-host with Matt Lauer next Monday, Dec. 30.
Gumbel and Pauley were a power morning show team for Today from 1982 to 1989. While Pauley left her anchor spot in 1989, Gumbel continued with the show until 1997. In January 2012, the duo returned to Today together to celebrate its 60th year on the air.
These days, Pauley makes an appearance on her old stomping grounds once a month for her special program – LifeReimagined Today. The monthy program has the former Today anchor spotlighting individuals over 50 who’ve decided to make a major life change in order to pursue long-shelved dreams.
Since leaving today, Gumbel has made a name for himself in the world of sports, hosting HBO’s Real Sports.
