Despite not being present at the awards show, Bruno Mars took home seven statues at the AMAs on Sunday.

Mars took home Artist of the Year as one of his seven, while Niall Horan won New Artist of the Year. After winning four Latin Grammys, Luis Fonsi‘s “Despacito” collaboration featuring Justin Bieber won an additional two awards at the AMAs. Keith Urban was the big country winner yesterday evening, while Drake and Beyoncé took home an award each in the R&B categories.

In addition to the awards, the evening was full of fun performances from various genres. Pink and Kelly Clarkson kicked off the show with a rendition of R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts.” Later in the show, Pink performed literally on the side of the building. Linkin Park honored its late singer Chester Bennington when they won for Favorite Alternative Rock Artist.

Tracee Ellis Ross, actress on Black-ish, hosted the event, and she also happens to be the daughter of Diana Ross, who took home this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Khalid and Imagine Dragons did an awesome mashup of pop and R&B, while Hailee Steinfeld, Alesso, Florida Georgia Line, and Watt did a misguided country mashup.
