Bruce Springsteen will be coming to Broadway for an eight-week residency at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Springsteen will be playing playing five nights a week at the intimate 975-seat theater. He will play “a pared-down version” of his typical shows, and while dates haven’t been finalized, he will likely open in November.
The New York Post reports that the Kerr’s owner, Jujamycyn Theaters, will forgo charging Springsteen rent. In exchange, the camps also struck a deal whereby the theater will reap all the alcohol sales and the artist will take home ticket revenues. Because of the size of the theater, it’s expected that the tickets will sell out within minutes.
There have also been rumors that a Springsteen musical is in the works, presumably based off the singer-songwriter’s memoir, Born To Run. Springsteen floated interest in the idea last year; if it went forward, the project would be the second attempt to adapt Springsteen to the stage, after a failed musical, Drive All Night, fizzled out back in 2002.
