On Wednesday, Bruce Springsteen joined Billy Joel onstage for the latter’s historic 100th concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
The two legendary singers performed a couple of songs together: Springsteen’s “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out,” during which the leader of the E-Street Band sat on Joel’s piano for a moment. After that, the pair sang Springsteen’s hit “Born to Run.”

“We go back a long way. We were both on the same record label and got dumped by the same label,” Joel stated in introducing 68-year-old Springsteen, whose accomplishments he touted. “We go way back. This is an Oscar winner, a Grammy winner and Tony Award winner! Please welcome Bruce Springsteen.”
New York native Joel, 69, has sold out several different shows at MSG recently, and his daughter Alexa Ray has even performed alongside him onstage. In fact, Joel maintains the record for most shows at the arena. The Garden is reportedly honoring the singer installing a permanent piano there.
Joel is scheduled to perform at MSG through December. On Dec. 15, Springsteen’s one-man show Springsteen on Broadway will be released on Netflix. Springsteen performed at the Tony Awards last month and was also honored with a special prize at the ceremony.
