Bruce Springsteen Headed To Broadway For Six Weeks Of Solo Shows

Legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen announced on Wednesday that he will perform six weeks of his “Springsteen on Broadway” solo show during October and November.

The shows, announced on Springsteen’s website, will be striped down of the New Jersey singer’s usual pomp and power that comes with his long-time touring band, the E Street Band. Springsteen will take the stage with only a piano, a guitar, and several passages from his recent memoir Born To Run.

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible,” Springsteen said on his website. “I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind.”

The five night engagement will take place in the Walter Kerr Theatre, which seats only 960 people and, according to Springsteen, “is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years.”

The “Born in the U.S.A.” singer also expanded on what the show will look like.

“My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.”

“Springsteen on Broadway” will open on October 12 and fun through November 26. Each week will feature five shows.

In anticipation for the heavy demand for tickets, Springsteen has made tickets available exclusively through Ticketmaster Verified Fan, which requires registration before purchasing in the hopes of cutting down the use of bot sales.

Once a user is verified, they may be randomly selected to receive an offer code to purchase the tickets. Not all verified users will be selected and registering does not guarantee fans will even have the ability to purchase the tickets. In order to be selected, the user must be a Verified Fan before August 27.

Tickets go on sale on August 30 at 10 a.m. EST. Fans will only be allowed to purchase two tickets at the most.
