Bruce Jenner has reportedly started the process of transiting to become a woman and will be sharing his journey in a documentary series.

Rumors have been swirling about Jenner over the last year, as the Jenner-Kardashian patriarch has been photographed with longer hair and manicured finger nails. Though his changing appearance has been sensationalized in the tabloids, a recent report suggests that there might be some truth to the speculation that the former Olympian is in the midst of a transition.

“Bruce is transitioning to a woman,” a source close to the family told People magazine. “He is finally happy and his family is accepting of what he’s doing. He’s in such a great space. That’s why it’s the perfect time to do something like this.”

Cameras have been following Jenner, as he still appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and will reportedly be branching off with his own show that will document the process of his transition. “It will air when he is ready to be open about his transition,” the source explained. “But he’s acting more and more confident and seems very happy.”

The changes that have been reported about Jenner’s physical appearance have reportedly been a part of his plan to slowly transition, allowing his family time to process what he’s going through.

“He’s being very smart about and also respectful about his transition,” the insider said. “Instead of completely shocking everyone, his changes have been subtle, and his family has had the chance to slowly get used to his new looks and life. The [kids’] concern seems to be Bruce’s happiness, and he acts very pleased with his new life.”

Kim Kardashian, Jenner’s step-daughter through his marriage to Kris Jenner, showed compassion towards him when she was recently asked about his more feminine appearance as of late. “I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right,” Kardashian told Entertainment Tonight.

“It is an intense thing. Of course not everyone is 100 percent on board. Different people have different reactions. But everybody loves him,” the source close to the family said, adding, “He has come out to those closest to him. He’s so happy and excited. He gets to lay down a huge bag of bricks. He’s been through a dark period and is coming out on the other side.”
