Bruce Jenner is facing a wrongful death suit filed by the surviving stepchildren of Kim Howe, who died in the multi-car accident the former Olympian was involved in back in February.
Howe had been driving in front of Jenner when he his slammed into the back of her car, sending the front half of it into oncoming traffic, which lead to her death. The stepchildren plan to hold Jenner responsible for Howe’s death in the court of law.
Howe has no living direct relatives, according to TMZ. Her husband died in 2003 and she was estranged from the two stepchildren. Despite the reported lack of a relationship, under Califronia law, the stepchildren are entitled to file the wrongful death lawsuit.
Currently, the stepchildren are reportedly gathering evidence to support the notion that they did have a relationship with Howe. Until that time, they will not have access to her property.
In her passing, Howe left a trust worth millions that will be donated to various charities, as well as a will that directs some $55,000 to go towards various animal causes.
Following the February 7 accident, Jenner released a statement to express his sympathies. “It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time,” his statement read. “I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
