Brittany Matthews Defends Brother-In-Law, Jackson Mahomes, From Assault Allegations Made Against Him

Amidst Jackson Mahomes’ court troubles, his sister-in-law Brittany Matthews took to Instagram to post some cryptic messages.

“As you get older you start to understand the difference between friends and associates, family and blood, business and work, love and lust, want and need. And most of all what’s important and what’s not,” Matthews wrote on her Instagram story.

“Unfortunately, a lot of y’all met me when I lacked boundaries and was a people pleaser. Let me reintroduce myself, I burn bridges as needed,” she continued.

It’s a possibility that Matthews is burning bridges at this very moment, defending her brother-in-law and maintaining his innocence.

Mahomes, whose brother is Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was charged with three counts of sexual battery and one count of misdemeanor battery earlier this month. He was arrested on May 3 and was released after paying the $100,000 bond.

He is back in the spotlight, however, after recently released court documents report even more serious allegations against the NFL player’s brother.

On February 25, Mahomes and his group of friends went to Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas, where he is reported to have pushed the restaurant owner’s 19-year-old son, who works at the establishment, to get water. According to the court documents, investigators saw camera footage of Mahomes pushing the employee multiple times. Mahomes is said to have apologized to the employee later on.

Court documents report that on that same night, Mahomes allegedly forced himself on the owner of the restaurant/bar, Aspen Vaughn

In an interview with The Kansas City Star, Vaughn told them that Mahomes wanted to talk to her, so they went into her office where he locked the door. He then reportedly grabbed her throat, pushed her back and forcibly kissed her while she was “pushing him off saying ‘what are you doing?’ and then he proceeded to do it two more times,” Vaugh told Kansas City Star.

The bar owner reported that Mahomes told her not to tell anyone of the incident. Later that night, after getting kicked out of the restaurant, Mahomes returned to talk about the business and refused to leave until the owner hugged him, the documents claim.

Matthews previously commented on the allegation against her brother-in-law when she was asked about him during an Instagram Q&A session.

“They are ignorant. He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way and until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one ever will) you have no right to say s–t about him,” she posted on her Instagram story. “So it’s best to just shut up.”

Mahomes is facing aggravated sexual battery, which is punishable by a maximum fine of $300,000. If found guilty, he could spend nearly four years in prison.
