Britney Spears Teases New Music On Instagram

Pop star Britney Spears has teased the release of new music. The singer made a post on Instagram Wednesday that claimed she would be dropping a new song soon.

In the post, Spears uploaded a 42-second video that she had recorded of herself singing in a bathroom mirror. In the video, Spears is seen doing a series of vocal runs. She also sings the lyrics, “I want you to know just what I mean.”

She wrote in the caption, which has since been deleted, “Pssss new song in the works … I’m gonna let you know what I mean !!!!!”

Spears,40, has been in the spotlight for decades, signing with her record label at 15 years old and hitting her peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She is known by many as the “Princess of Pop” and is one of the best-selling recording artists in history. She won a Grammy in 2004 and has won various other major awards, including six MTV Music Video Awards and seven Billboard Music Awards.

However, the singer has not released an album in years. The last album that she released was her 2016 album, Glory.

This seems likely to change due to the end of her 13-year-long involuntary conservatorship. Spears’s father was placed in control of her finances and personal decisions following various incidents concerning the singer’s mental health. Spears engaged in years-long legal battles to end the conservatorship, accusing her family of abuse.

Last year, Spears’s then-attorney Samuel D. Ingham III reportedly told California Superior Court Judge Brenda J. Penny, “My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father.” He added, “She will not perform again if her father is in charge of her career.”

Fans worldwide expressed support for the singer. The “Free Britney” movement gained major prominence across the media. On November 12, 2021, the conservatorship was finally terminated. Spears rejoiced at the news, telling fans on Instagram, “I’m celebrating my freedom.”

Now that the conservatorship has ended, many are looking forward to seeing what the pop star does with her freedom. Fans flooded the comments of her Wednesday Instagram post to express support and excitement for her new music.

“BEAUTIFUL VOICE!” commented one fan, @caralikecareuh. “Please keep sharing your beautiful gift and soulful voice with the world.”
