Britney Spears and her longtime boyfriend David Lucado have reportedly broken up amidst rumors that Lucado had cheated on the singer.
“Ahhhh the single life!” Spears tweeted Thursday, confirming the rumors that she and Lucado had decided to part ways. Her rep later further confirmed the pop icon’s relationship status, saying, “Yes, she’s single” in a statement to People magazine.
Spears, who is still in her residency in Las Vegas, is reportedly pretty broken up about the split, according to an insider. "She is heartbroken. She is in Vegas. But she will get through it. She's a strong girl and he was never right for her," a source told E! News.
In an alleged video that’s reportedly being shopped around, Lucado is shown making out and dancing with a mystery woman in someone’s living room, according to TMZ. The video, which reportedly captured Lucado in early August, is supposedly the reason why Spears broke off their relationship. Lucado, however, has apparently been trying to win her back.
"David is very, very in love with Britney. This is unfortunate and he hopes that it all works out,” a rep for Lucado told TMZ.
Spears doesn’t appear to be looking back anytime soon, as she took to Instagram later on Thursday with advice for, “When you’re having a shitty day…” In the Instagram video, the “Stronger” singer says, “If you ever have a really, really shitty day, find someone with shoes with hearts on them,” and then pans to a woman with sneakers emblazoned with smiling hearts. “Made my day!”
Spears began dating Lucado in February 2013, roughly a month after calling off her engagement to her former agent, Jason Trawick.
