Britney Spears set a release date of October 24, 2023, for her upcoming memoir The Woman in Me.
The book will follow Spears’ journey as a pop star and is a “brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope.”
Gallery Books, owned by Simon & Schuster, will be publishing the book and it is currently available for pre-order at several bookstores, including Barnes & Noble.
The memoir comes almost two years after Spears’ infamous court case when she requested to end her 13 years of conservatorship from her father James Spears. The #FreeBritney movement was born after the star publicly spoke about her conservatorship and claimed her father was abusing his power.
Britney will focus on empowering women in her memoir and the importance of being able to tell your own story when you are ready, rather than doing it on other people’s terms.
The book deal was first announced earlier in July. She was paid $15 million after a bidding war between publishing houses. Her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, released a memoir in January 2022, which Spears openly criticized, just six months before Spears’s announcement.
She shared the news about her new book on her Instagram and Twitter accounts announcing, “It’s coming… My story. On my terms. At last. Are you ready? On sale 10.24.23. Available for pre-order wherever books are sold.” The cover of her novel features her topless with her blond bangs covering her face.
