Popstar Britney Spears has been extremely active on social media since the recent termination of her 14 year-long involuntary conservatorship under her father. Monday night, Spears posted a lengthy tirade to Instagram where she first implored fans to pray and discussed her journey in believing in God again.
The first photos were a series of affirmations beginning with, “When you wake up. Pray,” and Spears consistently reverted to discussing faith throughout the posts. Spears said that “a relationship with God is neverending,” and implied that she stopped believing in God due to difficulties stemming from the conservatorship.
Spears went on to reflect on the frustrations of navigating her career under a conservatorship. “I wanted to be nice but what they did to my heart was unforgivable!” Spears wrote, “I asked for 13 years to perform new songs and remixes of her old songs… and every time I asked I was told ‘No…'”
She called this treatment a “set up” by her team, and claimed her family let her sister Jamie Lynn Spears record remixes of her old songs while denying her the same thing. Spears came out of this experience “scared of people and the business,” and rightfully so.
Now that she has full control of whatever she wants to do, Spears has said that choosing not to perform her old songs is “my way of saying ‘F––– you” in a sense when it only actually benefits my family by ignoring my real work…” She is continuing to distance herself from her former discography by teasing the release of upcoming new music as well.
