Britney Spears returned to the MTV Video Music Awards stage Sunday for the first time in nearly a decade with a memorable performance.
Spears performed her recent hit “Make Me…” with Bay Area rapper G. Eazy last night. The pop star, who arrived out on stage in a yellow bodysuit, powered through her choreography and delivered a solid show for the audience in the Madison Square Garden arena and those watching at home.
Spears documented the night of the VMAs on Instagram. She started off with a picture of herself pre-white carpet in her asymmetrical Versace gown. “So ready for this night ✨??#VMAs,” Spears wrote.
“My partner in rhyme @g_eazy #VMAs,” she captioned a picture with her “Make Me…” collaborator.
After the show, Spears shared a selfie, writing, “Tonight was unforgettable ? Thank you #VMAs and thank you to my amazing fans!”
Spears’ performance at the 2016 VMAs marks something of a comeback for her. While she had memorably performed on the show multiple times during the highpoint of her career in the early 2000s, her last time was in 2007, during the middle of her breakdown. Spears, who currently has a residency in Las Vegas, recently dropped her latest album Glory, which critics are saying is a return to form for the singer.
