Through a representative, Britney Spears’s ex-husband Kevin Federline gave his blessing to her and her fiancé Sam Asghari as the happy couple is now expecting a child together. Federline and Spears have two children, Sean Preston and Jayden, who were the subject of a bitter custody battle when the pair divorced.

There don’t seem to be that many hard feelings from either side being aired publicly, though. Federline’s attorney, Mark Kaplan said on his behalf, “Kevin is aware of the recent posting by Britney regarding her announced pregnancy and wishes her a happy and healthy pregnancy, and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they go through the excitement of planning parenthood together.”

Federline and Spears had a whirlwind romance beginning in 2004 and famously announced their engagement after only three months of dating. The former backup dancer Federline was ridiculed by fans and tabloids for the relationship and frequently accused of acting like a “gold digger” and beginning a relationship with her when his ex-girlfriend was still pregnant with a child of his.

Years later, Spears filed for divorce and asked for sole custody of their children in the initial filing. Federline requested sole custody himself and was granted it, and an incident reportedly occurred in 2008 when Spears refused to relinquish custody and locked herself with her youngest son Jayden in a room. Spears was hospitalized and the children were transferred to Federline’s custody.

Spears had been vocal for some time prior to becoming pregnant that she had a desire to have another child with Asghari. She claims, however, that her father Jamie Spears prevented her from doing so by forcing her to keep in an IUD during the 13 years he was acting as her conservator. Her conservatorship was terminated months later in November of 2021.
